Play Group
Group activities promote language and culture through the experiential learning of play, art, and story telling. Singing together during circle time promotes group socialization and sharing in the family circle.
Benefits experienced by Aboriginal children growing up in Infant Group and Play Group environments are an increased enthusiasm for learning, greater self-esteemand, emotional well being, and better physical command of art, language skills and socialization.
Parents learn the skills to promote early childhood learning while strengthening cultural activities in the home. Parents are offered workshops that support the family's role as the child's "primary teacher" which fosters more confident parenting.
